Putting Pets on Diets

I work part time as a veterinary technician. Today, I was on the job and a woman sent her dog to the back to be vaccinated, and she requested that we do a weigh-in and body-fat caliper test to ensure her pet was not overweight. I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. The dog was lean, as you could tell by eye, but she insisted we test him.

Body fat came back 30%, the dog was fine, but the owner insisted on a weight control food. Since that's a prescription brand, we couldn't just sell it to her, and she flipped out. I must say, she looked like she probably had an eating disorder she was so thin, and I think it's sad that this woman's neurotic behaviour has bled over into forcing her dog onto a diet as well. These anorexic girls shouldn't be allowed to own pets, they have to starve everything around them to. Think their better than everyone else and they dress like skanks. Real women have curves, and your size 4 ass just doesn't fill that outfit out the way a gal like mine would. I have an ass, a real ass. No ugly hipbones, and a lovely texture to my legs you skinny girls will never manage.

As you can probably tell, she called me fat. That was only one of the lovely names she threw at me. I said nothing, as I am the bigger person, and then politely told her she was welcome to take her dog elsewhere if she wanted it to crash diet like her.

I am not of the opinion that pets need to be put on diets without a medical reason. Obesity is not a disease, it's a lifestyle. I like food, and I am one sassy fat lady. That's the way it should be. What have I got to apologize for. And just because my dog is fat- hey! He likes food too. That's why he's my dog, you putz!

People, your fat dogs don't need a diet, they need love. And food, as a matter of fact, is an excellent way of expressing love. Food IS love, in many ways.
